Remember back to just the beginning of the recycle effort? The weekly trip to Eco-Cycle.
The first step was set up containers for each category in the garage: glass – newspaper/paper – cans, and it did not take long for the bins to fill up. Next step, load into (I was lucky to have a mini van) a vehicle, take to the Pearl Street drop off and load into the appropriate bins. Eco-Cycle, Boulder, Colorado: Great place to meet people, as they too haul recycles to the correct giant bin for depositing materials.
Fast forward to 2014. Eco-Cycle is one of the largest non-profit recyclers in the United States. Now, disposal of recycle materials is a matter of curbside deposit, extended to include compost, picked up via garbage collectors like Western Disposal. Best part, the recycle materials are all ‘commingled’, making the process even easier.
Have you accumulated hazardous wastes around the house in the form of old paint, motor oil, pesticides, batteries, household cleaners? Here’s a solution for you, right behind Eco-Cycle: Boulder County Hazardous Materials Management (HMM) Facility located at 1901 63rd St., again, west (behind) of the Boulder County Recycling Center. Open Wednesday – Saturday, 8:30 am –4 pm. Free for residents.
